Calcagni’s New Homes Sales Team at Bridgewater Estates, Northford and Royal Oaks in Wallingford hosted winter coat drives on January 17th to benefit Master’s Manna in Wallingford. The power of social “networking” paid off handsomely, with fellow agents, clients and the general public stopping by the two communities to donate gently used winter coats. The spacious dressing room in Bridgewater Estate’s Dayton model doubled as our collection “drop-off zone”.
The coats were delivered to Master’s Manna in Wallingford just in time for last Saturday’s “Snowzilla” event that blanketed upwards of a foot of snow across central Connecticut. Master’s Manna is a not for profit organization that serves individuals living in the greater Wallingford / Meriden area.

Sunwood Development’s Bridgewater Estates in Northford was honored recently with the prestigious HOBI Award for “Outstanding New Haven County Single Family Home $600,000-700,000” for its Dayton model.
The building industry’s HOBI Awards Gala is sponsored each year by the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut (HBACT), and is considered by many to be the industry’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in a variety of categories which include, home construction, home technology, sales and marketing, home financing and community service.
Each year, several hundred entries are received for awards consideration. A panel of industry leaders serve as the judges and select the winners after carefully reviewing applications, touring nominated homes and interviewing entrants.
“This year, homebuyers are focused on value and the amenities that make their lives easier and less stressful,” said HOBI Awards producer, Joanne Carroll. “At Bridgewater Estates Dayton model, our judges were impressed with Sunwood Development’s value engineered construction, as well as the popular features they incorporated, like the convenient drop zone for organizing mail, coats and boots; and in the master suite, the enormous combination dressing room walk-in closet with sliding barn door access to a spa-like master bath.”
The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut is the trade organization for the home building industry in Connecticut. It represents more than 1,000 member firms in homebuilding, remodeling, land development and related industries with five local chapters. HBACT works to solve industry problems and promote industry growth, while upholding the highest degree of professionalism, work ethic, skill and integrity. www.hbact.org
Like a number of Connecticut towns, Northford is the gracious host to a new residential community represented by Calcagni Real Estate. As the company’s familiarity with the town expanded, so too did their determination to match the kindness of Northford’s motivational inhabitants.
Following the tragic death of her 18-year-old son Matt in 2009, Lynn Riordan developed a benevolent mission: Building a Northford food pantry to aid the hungry in Matt’s name. This was, Riordan believed, an opportunity to display gratitude for the compassion she received from her hometown, and to reciprocate with a thoughtful gesture of her own. Lynn founded the food bank in the back of Northford’s Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 1311 Middletown Avenue, and with the generosity of local volunteers and businesses, doors opened on June 6th of this year.
